We’re superfans of Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains because: This 1982 movie is able to both sum-up the escence of punk rock from its birth till its 80s dilution and predict the Riot Grrl movement of the 1990s. In less than 90 minutes, we see the birth, rise, fall and rebirth of the Stains, a teenage girl band up for anything to get out their native suburbs. Ray Winstone is quite convincing as Looter leader and singer but maybe the presence of Paul Jones and Steve Cook (Sex Pistols, The Professionals) plus Paul Simonon (the Clash) helps a bit. The song “Professional” should be a punk rock anthem in both versions – Looter and the Stains Corinne Burns’ claims as the Stains leader will be recovered later by Kathleen Hanna and her band: Bikinni Kill. For this bunch of reasons (among many more) were super fans of Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains. The Stains on stage .
